Judo Club gets more medals
That was followed by the Parks Judo Club Championships at Whitley Bay, a journey made by Ham, Rhiannon Baldwin, Fay Hall and Sam Hall.
All four of them were allowed to enter the age group above their own, as well as compete against fighters in their age category. They were undefeated against their contemporaries, earning them gold medals in the process.
Moving up in age and weight, Ham was unbeaten on his way to the final, only to lose in the final 20 seconds.
Baldwin was also beaten in her final, while Fay Hall came away with a bronze after facing some of the country’s best girls.
It was Sam Hall who took centre stage for Glossop, winning all three of his fights to return with a second gold medal.
Finally, Ham and Baldwin travelled to Welshpool to take part in the AJ Judo charity event.
Fighters from as far afield as Scotland and London were in action, but could not prevent the Glossop duo from posting 100 per cent records to return with gold medals.

I currently live and work in China, but I’m looking for Karen [Johnson] who used to live in Glossop not so far from the High Street. In 1987 Karen Johnson attended the Northern School of Fighting Arts Tae Kwon Do club in Glossop run by a guy called “Pete”, who was a friend of Alan Horton. Karen used to live not far from the club, which was an old community hall. Karen’s house was near the pub called The Mouse Trap, which was a very large pub I recall.
Karen’s husband had recently died in a tractor accident at work and is buried at Glossop cemetery. She had a brother who was a car mechanic, a sister who was a solicitor and a younger sister who live at home with a young baby.
I am desperate to contact Karen [Johnson]. Can anyone help me find Karen [Johnson]? She made many friends who attended the Tae Kwon Do club.
