Glossop get to Wembley!

Glossop North End manager Steve Young admits he thought his side had missed out on the chance to play at Wembley in The FA Vase Final.

Trailing 2-1 at the end of extra time against Chalfont St Peter, and with just seconds remaining, the Derbyshire side equalised through Kelvin Lugsden and went on to triumph 6-5 in the resulting penalty shoot-out.

Young said: “We were dead and buried. I don’t know how we have got there.

“I thought we were out but we somehow forced the ball over the line with the very last kick of the game.”

Glossop’s players now have the chance to walk out at the Home of Football and Young hopes his troops will be able to put on a performance fitting of the occasion.

“We didn’t play well today, but I hope we can walk out at Wembley and show what we can do,” he said.

“I’m so pleased for all of the players. To have the opportunity to play at Wembley is the chance of a lifetime.

“Players at this level don’t get that chance and we have.”
