The 2nd Battalion The Mercian Regiment remain true to their regimental motto:
Stand Firm, Strike Hard

I am related to the family of Lance Corp. Kieron Hill of 2nd Battalion of The Mercian Regiment who was killed Afghanistan a year ago. Recently a monument was unveiled at Clifton, Nottingham, which honour Keiron and other local hero who died in conflict for their county. I am a practising artist and I would like to donate a piece of artwork to honour Kieron and others to the regiment. I am working on the notion of a picture of the mercian uniform [the buff one they wear in Afghanistan] At the top of the picture the Mercian badge and below a sillohette of a boot, sword and helmet. For me to depict each element correctly, I would be most obliged if you email me the pattern of the battledress, an image of the boots, rifle used and the helmet [any other images of the equipment used would also be useful for research purposes] If you would like to discuss my proposal please do not hesitate to contact me either by email or telephone 07737553025. I also wish to add that I would like to do this at my own expense, I only need images, or perhaps a sample of the design of the materials used. Many thanks, Trish Stanfield-Bowen BA[Hons] Fine Art
